Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat is finally hitting the screens all over. Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh played the lead roles in the movie which has been made on a massive budget. Here is the complete review of Padmaavat:

Story:

Padmaavat is the story of Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) and Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) who lead the Rajput dynasty. When things are going extremely well, they get knocked by Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), a cold blooded king who loves war. The rest of Padmaavat is all about their lives and the battle between them. Watch Padmaavat to know about the story of love and war.

Analysis:

Padmaavat has a spectacular first half and is banked big on the performances of the lead actors. Top class sets and the epic story telling makes Padmaavat one of the finest films. The songs have been shot lavishly and they steal the show. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s grand narration makes the first half a treat to watch. The interval episodes look extremely convincing and make a huge impact.

The second half of the film too has been extremely passable though it has enough flaws. The songs have been shot well and top class performances by the lead actors leave a huge impact across the audience. Deepika looks stunning while Ranveer Singh performed loud enough. The climax has been hard hitting and the film ends on an impressive note.

Performances:

Deepika Padukone looks stunning on screen as Rajput queen and is a treat to watch. Right from her costumes to her ornaments, everything has been taken huge care. She performed well in the assigned role. Shahid Kapoor looked decent in his role as Rawal and has been apt. Ranveer Singh has been ruggish and fearless in the role of Khilji. He has been wicked and shined in the role. All the other actors have been decent.

The story of Padmaavat has been inspired from the epic poem Padmavat (1540) by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, the film narrates the story of Padmavati, a Rajput queen who committed jauhar to protect herself from Khilji. The screenplay and the dialogues are the major highlights of the film. The music and the cinematography are the major strengths of Padmaavat. The production values looked grand enough and Sanjay Leela Bhansali tops the show with his flawless abilities.

Final Word:

Padmaavat is an epic that should not be missed. Stupendous performances, grand technical values and epic narration makes the film a masterpiece.

Rating: 3.5/5
