Story:

Kaala (Rajinikanth) represents Dharavi slum in Mumbai which holds a major part in the heart of the city. Vishnubhai (Sampath Raj) tries to get hold and raise commercial spaces and he loses his seat. It is during this time, Hari Dada (Nana Patekar) enters into the scene. Kaala gets attacked after which violence triggers in the region. Despite of several warnings Kaala and his team will be left undisturbed. The rest of Kaala is all about a series of attacks on Dharavi and how Kaala keeps his people safe. Watch Kaala to know about the rest.

Positives:

Rajinikanth and his mannerism

Action Blocks

Music and Cinematography

Interval Episode

Negatives:

Slow Pace

Too much Tamil flavor

Dragged Second Half

Mass overdose

Performances:

Rajinikanth takes the lead and delivers out one more top notch performance throughout. He has been apt in a lungi and will be a treat for masses. He has been exceptional in the action episodes. Nana Patekar carried out his role well and turned out to be the best opponent for Rajinikanth. He has been challenging and perfect for the role. Sampath Raj and Samuthirakani have been decent in their assignments. Eswari Rao and Huma Qureshi have been quite perfect for their roles. All the other actors carried their roles well.

The story of Kaala is all about the lives of the people residing in Dharavi region. The first half has been well penned and presented. The second half has been slow paced and predictable. The screenplay and the dialogues have been decent. The music was not up to the mark but the background score elevated the film well. The cinematography is one of the highlights of Kaala and the production values look apt. PA Ranjith did a commendable job in making the film sound decent.

Verdict:

Kaala may not appeal to all the sections but it is sure a treat for Rajinikanth’s fans. He has been stunning and stupendous as Kaala and the film makes a one-time watch.

Rating:3/5
